A night out with an old friend

Ahhh yes… it’s nice to have a night out with an old friend that you haven’t seen for a while.

Last night, I had the privilege of dining with my old friend… Coke. I had one with my chicken parma last night, at The Pub at Crown while out for Tash’s birthday. Not a bad parma either… although you just can’t get that country pub atmosphere in the middle of the casino to complete the experience.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Well, I can assure you that this applies just as well to caffeinated soft drinks as it does to people. I really really really enjoyed that coke. It had been a long time between drinks for us both.

That said, I’m going to stick with the minimal caffeine intake. I think it’s been quite a good thing to go without. I’d suggest that I’ve been sleeping better without it. While I can’t see myself going to lengths to completely avoid it for a whole year, I’d have to say that this little lifestyle experiment has been thoroughly worthwhile.

Decaf Paul: Three Weeks!

Yes that’s right kids… it’s been over three weeks since the last time I put caffeine into my system.

I have to say I feel a lot better for it. I’m strongly considering making it a permanent thing. Apparently it takes 21 days to form a habit and 6 weeks to break it… so I’m going to aim for that, after which I suspect I’ll enjoy the odd tea or coke.

Anyway, today is officially Day 22, so only 9 more days to go until some of you officially become my adoring fans. You can start writing the fan mail for me now.
