IT Tips: Free Graphics Program

If you like mspaint.exe as much as I do (formerly known as the wonderful "Paintbrush" in Windows 3.1)... then you'll love this little freebie gem.  Yes, that's right... it's Paint.NET.

Best bit is the resize feature that gives you a slider and allows you to reduce an image in quality to match a specific file size.  Supports layers for people who like to play with that sort of thing.  So far I'm impressed.

When you install, it'll give you a page about file associations. .. remember to untick the box that refers to .jpgs if you prefer those to open in your web browser like I do.

Download it here.  You will need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 if you don't already have it.  If you're not sure, Paint.NET will tell you when you try to install.

Enjoy.

Have you tried out The Gimp? It's a bit clunky but super powerful
